For the second time, the Arctic Monkeys have been nominated in seven categories at the NME Awards. This after the same amount of nominations in 2010, which only yielded one trophy. They of course hope to fare better this time around. After forming in 2002 as teenagers, the "Monkeys" have come a long way but still face fierce competition from The Horrors, Mercury Music Prize winner Pj Harvey, The Vaccines and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds in the Best Album category.
Meanwhile, Lana Del Rey will be vying for The Best New Band category while fighting against Tribes, The Vaccines, Wu Lyf and Foster The People to attain it.
Kasabian, Florence And The Machine, Muse are up for three gongs each, while The Horrors, Hurts and The Vaccines are among the acts nominated for two awards.
The Horrors and Florence + The Machine are set to perform together during the ceremony. They're promising to perform a very special collaboration at the annual celebration of the greatest music in the world, which is taking place at O2 Academy Brixton on February 29, according to the NME.
