REVIEW Kimbra Settle Down EP

The first song off the EP is "Settle Down," a track that starts off acoustically and introduces drums, a mellow bass and lightly toned piano mid verse, accompanied by very airy vocals. It depicts a picture of a white picket fence and all those things that young girls dream of for their future.

The New Zealand born soulful songstress continues with "Limbo," an electric number which conveys the difficulties faced, seemingly, in any relationship over a fluttering guitar and dozens of harmonies. The record contains a nice regressed bridge that eases into the latter quarter of the song.

Next up, "Plain Gold Ring." This record once again illuminates Kimbra’s airy disposition as she laces the finely arrayed musical spread with tightly tuned melodic riffs. The track is featured live from Sing Sing studios.

The 21-year-old soul, alternative, jazz newcomer ends in proper with "Cameo Lover." Reminiscent of the late seventies – early eighties, this record captures the versatility of this burgeoning star and displays a barrage of true talent.

Kimbra recently announced that she will be supporting Goyte, Belgian-Australian multi-instrumental musician and singer-songwriter, on his upcoming tour.
