Madonna Covers The Advocate, Talks Lady GaGa, Gay Fans and Daughter

Madonna graces the cover of The Advocate‘s latest issue to discuss her new movie, W.E., a romantic drama film, which she co-wrote and directed, and stars Abbie Cornish, Oscar Isaac, Richard Coyle, James D'Arcy and Andrea Riseborough. She also touched on her upcoming album 'MDNA.'

Madonna also reveals her thoughts on Lady GaGa saying, “It seems natural, and I can see why she has a young gay following. I can see that they connect to her kind of not fitting into the conventional norm. I mean, she’s not Britney Spears. She’s not built like a brick s—house. She seems to have had a challenging upbringing, and so I can see where she would also have that kind of connection, a symbiotic relationship with gay men.”

She also adds that she never left her gay fans: “I never left them. When you’re single, you certainly have more time to socialize and hang out with your gay friends, but then you get married and you have a husband and you have children, and your husband wants you to spend time with him. I’m not married anymore, but I have four kids, and I don’t have a lot of time for socializing. I hope nobody’s taking that personally. It certainly was not a conscious decision. As it stands, most of my friends in England are gay. But I’m back. Never fear.”

She also explains what kind of a mother she is saying, “I’m a strict mother. My daughter doesn’t know why I won’t allow her to get everything pierced or a tattoo or dye her hair blond on the tips and pink at the roots.”

The 53-year-old pop icon will be performing at the Super Bowl with Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. who recently told MTVNews

"I'm gonna be performing with Madonna and Nicki Minaj ... If you're gonna go to the Super Bowl, you might as well go with America's biggest female icons," M.I.A. explained. "As musicians, we're two women and we represent two opposite sides of the world. If we can come together on a piece of music or something like the Super Bowl, I feel like that's actually a cool thing to see this year because it's getting silly out there."
