Adam Levine Says Randy Jackson Was Irresponsible For Dissing The Voice

With the increase popularity of The Voice, it seems the folks over at American Idol are getting nervous over their rating dip. During a recent visit to the Ellen DeGeneres show, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, who was accompanied by Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton, had a few words for Idol judge Randy Jackson, after Jackson slammed the reality series during the recent TCA press tour.

Ellen kicked off the conversation by reminding the trio: "Randy said that 'The Voice' is basically kind of a second-chance place. People that don't get in someplace else go to 'The Voice'."

Jackson also stated, "The winner [Javier Colon] of 'The Voice', I will remind you, was an artist who had a deal at Capitol Records for several years, a failed contract."

"I heard about this. Shame on Randy Jackson for saying that," Adam quickly responds. "Because he, out of anybody, should know that if you're in this business you need second, third, fourth and fifth chances. So we love and embrace that being part of the show."

The rocker credited Randy as "a working musician for a long time and had a lot of success" but insist "'Idol' kind of blew him out of the water" adding, "And he is a household name now. It was an irresponsible thing to say that."

The second season of NBC's The Voice premieres Sunday, February 5 following the Super Bowl.
