Coldplay - Charlie Brown

The British alternative rock band’s new video for Charlie Brown is finally here and it is electrifying. This is the third single off their latest album Mylo Xyloto. The video begins with a birds-eye-view of a well lit metropolis and moves intermittently between the band, a young woman, and a man suiting up.

Next we see the man jump out of a window and make an acrobatic excursion across the city. He breaks into a car, and he’s off.

Meanwhile, the band is raving it out, hopping around as lead singer, Chris Martin, performs for the camera.

The purpose of the theft becomes apparent later when the thieving circus monkey links with the sexy young woman we encountered earlier. They come together in a passionate embrace and suck face. (just kidding, just wanted to get a laugh out of u). They continue into the car and enjoy a joyride. Later we see the two end up at the rave.

According to the band, Charlie Brown was the first song recorded during sessions for the band's then-upcoming fifth studio album, with the intention of being included on what later became Mylo Xyloto (which, under an unofficial, working title, was simply known as LP5 at the time). The song takes its name from the fact that it originally included lyrics inspired by the comic strip Peanuts, whose protagonist was a young boy named Charlie Brown. During the writing and recording sessions of Mylo Xyloto, the song took on other names, such as "Cartoon Heart" and "Cartoon Head", before eventually being titled Charlie Brown.

Mat Whitecross, who also did the bands other videos, ‘Paradise’, ‘Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall’, and others, directed the video.
