Adele Competing With Van Halen For No.1 Spot On Billboard Hot 200

Van Halen’s newly-released album ‘A Diferent Kind of Truth’ is selling like hot cakes and is expected to continue that trend with a predicted 180-200,000 copies sold in the coming week. Adele, with sales just under 150,000 the past weeks, may have to contend for the throne she now possesses after knocking off Michael Buble six weeks ago.

The "Rolling In The Deep" hitmaker has a trick up her sleeve however; the Grammys. There she will make her highly-anticipated return to the stage for the first time since her throat surgery and the move is expected to revitalize and give a resurgence to her album sales.

All of this sounds more complicated than the stock market with all these predictions, but nevertheless, we are very happy to see Adele performing at the 54th Grammy Awards. Yet there is merit to the speculation. Adele holds the first spot on the Hot 200 by adding another 122,000 copies (up 5% from what she got last week). If she continues this momentum into next week, she will be tied with Whitney Houston and Elvis Presley who both scored 20-week No. 1 run, as she now stands at 19.
