Canadian Newcomer Carly Rae Jepsen Inks Deal With Justin Biebers Label

Carly Rae Jepsen must feel really fortunate to have famous fans in her corner. Justin Bieber and his girlfriend Selena Gomez announced via a video message late Tuesday ( Feb. 14th) that Jepsen had been signed to School Boy Records, a label ran by Bieber's manager Scooter Braun.

The announcement was made on the MuchMusic program, New Music Live, where Bieber explains:

"When I was actually in Canada, I heard a song on the radio called Call Me Maybe, and I immediately fell in love with the song...I thought it was a smash. And I just wanted to tell everybody that we signed her, so everyone go check her out, a song called Call Me Maybe, and she's going to blow up."

The announcement came the same day Jepsen released her second album which is a scaled back EP called 'Curiosity'.

"I feel shocked and speechless and very grateful," said Jepsen on New Music Live. "It's a very cool adventure to go on and I couldn't be more excited."

Scooter Braun was very excited as well saying, "The last time I worked with a Canadian, it worked out really, really well," after calling into the program on the phone after Bieber's video announcement. "I'm really confident with Canada representing that this is going to go really well for Carly. What Justin said, I think is really important for all you Canadians to know, he said, 'I think this is B.S. that this song is No. 1 in Canada and not No. 1 in the world.' And that's why he wanted to get involved."

Bieber took the phone from Braun, adding: "I'm excited for you to be able to come out to L.A. and be able to work on your album."

A collaboration with Bieber is said to be a definite possibility.
