Adam Lambert Confirms He Will Perform With Queen at Sonisphere

There is no doubting it now. Confirmation has finally dispelled all former utterances, pronouncements, and speculations. Adam Lambert will sing with Queen this summer. The former "American Idol" season 8 star is set to rock out with the rockers known as Queen at the upcoming Sonisphere festival at Knebworth.

"As many suspected, I can finally confirm: I have been invited by Queen to sing one very special concert!" Lambert tweeted to his 1.3 million fans. This before adding, "Sonisphere at Knebworth July 7th!"

Rumors initially surfaced earlier this month but were quickly met with some placating by Lambert tweeting, "I haven't confirmed any guest appearances. That being said, I'm truly flattered by your jump to such glorious conclusions mr journalist!!"

But wasted no time in setting the record straight now that the jig is up saying, "Sorry to be coy about the details the past few weeks, but I made a promise to keep it under wraps as best I could." He then enthused, "Gonna be a surreal night!"

Brian May, one of Queen's founding members said in a statement, "Judging by my incoming mail, this decision will make a lot of people very happy. It's a worthy challenge for us, and I'm sure Adam would meet with Freddie's approval! And what better place to revisit, and walk those emotional paths than Knebworth? It will be a rush."

Lambert retorted, "I'm completely in awe of the Queen phenomenon. The thought of sharing the stage for a full set is so beautifully surreal. I'm honored to be able to pay my respects to Freddie's memory. He's a personal hero of mine and I am deeply grateful for the chance to sing such powerful music for fans of this legendary band."

"I know the evening will be a huge milestone for me, and with the support of Brian, Roger and the rest of the band I know magic will be on display."
