Kevin McGuire is a brave young man doing everything in his power to battle a form of cancer he has. To ease the pain and suffering a bit, his sister, Victoria, created a Facebook page for her 18-year-old brother to aid him in his search for a prom date. Surprisingly, someone responded, only it wasn't a local girl. Rather, it was none other than Taylor Swift. Though Swift was unable to attend his prom with him, she did invite him to the ACM's (The Academy of Country Music Awards) that recently took place. Unable to attend due to his illness, he was confined at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where he underwent treatment.
That didn't stop Swift from acknowledging him however. “My date tonight was supposed to be a high school football player named Kevin McGuire and he’s not here, but I promised I’d give him a shout out,” Swift said after accepting her Entertainer of the Year award. “Kevin and all your family and all your friends, thank you for wanting to take me to the ACMs.”
All is not lost however! Kevin has since left the hospital and was able to see Swift's shout-out of him with his family and friends. Pretty awesome!
