Nelly Furtado, after taking a bit of a hiatus since her last album release, her 2009 Spanish-language Mi Plan, is slated to hit the market this June by storm.
In 2006 she was crowned the multi-platinum champ with her album Loose, and now she seeks to undertake the same goals and reach the same heights or better. The industry and market has vastly changed since Furtado dominated the charts and there are new players, and some of the same players. The question is, can Nelly keep up the fervor and keep up with the pace, or will she set the pace?
The album is set to be released on June 19th. She announced the news on twitter saying, " “The Spirit Indestructible JUNE 19, 2012."
Her first single, “Big Hoops (Bigger the Better),” was produced by Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins and set to be released on iTunes April 17th with a video to follow. The word on the street is that her video is being shot in L.A. but no deatils as to the concept, features, or who the director is, as of yet.
To describe her new approach and album Nelly said, “It has a real classic sound to it, a sound that’s really authentic, super soulful."
