Carrie Underwood 'Blows Away' First Week Sales, Debuts at #1
Carrie
Underwood was set to have her third chart-topper last week given the
projected sales numbers. Now the final tally is in, and it is confirmed
that the country singer has indeed secured the No. 1 spot on the
Billboard charts this week for the debut of her fourth studio album,
'Blown Away.'
Though slightly lower than the projected numbers from last week, the American Idol alum has a total of 272,670 in first week sales.
'Blown
Away' serves as a follow-up to the 2009 effort 'Play On' and 2007's
'Carnival Ride,' both of which also peaked the charts at #1. 'Play On'
entered the charts with 318,000 copies sold, and 'Carnival Ride' with
527,000.
Most recently, Underwood also announced her fall/winter
tour in support of the album. More details on dates and ticket sales
can be found on her official website.
