It was just a matter time. Simon Cowell, who had long tried to get Mariah Carey on "The X Factor," has reacted to her signing on for "American Idol."
While he says Mariah is "sweet," Simon thinks she will have a "difficult" time telling contestants they aren't talented.
"I like Mariah, but I think she's going to find it difficult to say no," Cowell said during a TCA video conference Monday.
Taking it a step further, Cowell says the "Triumphant" and "Butterfly" singer has to learn the art of saying "no" more than "yes."
"On these shows you have to say 'no' to people. She's sweet. I think she'll do fine, though. I'm quite happy for her," says Cowell.
With Mariah on "American Idol," Britney Spears on "The X Factor," and Christina Aguilera on "The Voice" it's clear all three shows are ready and able to compete for viewers. Will you support all three ?
"American Idol" returns January 2013 while "The X Factor" and "The Voice" premiere in September on FOX and NBC.
