Award-winning band Green Day will be performing at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).
MTV confirmed the news recently, also announcing a global partnership to debut new music from the band's anticipated album trilogy.
It all kicks off with the exclusive worldwide premiere of the new music video "Oh Love" across MTV's platforms in over 150 territories, and the first televised performance of new music from the "2012 MTV Video Music Awards".
Green Day joins previously announced performers Alicia Keys, who will premiere a brand new song from her upcoming album, and the British boy band phenoms, One Direction, who are first-time VMA performers and nominees, and P!nk, who will debut a new song from her upcoming sixth studio album with another memorable performance.
Hosted by Kevin Hart, the "2012 MTV Video Music Awards" air Thursday, September 6 at 8:00pm ET/PT on MTV.
