Former Girlicious and Pussycat Dolls member Chrystina Sayers releases her new single, "Alive," after going solo earlier this year. On the dance tune, Chrystina shows off her soulful vocals, while celebrating her new found freedom.

Chrystina recently sat down with Vibe Vixen and opened up about several topics:

On Her Girlicious Experience
...It was phenomenal. The girls and I were very similar and really crazy because we were really young. It was one of the best times of my life. It was amazing to share and experience it with three other girls. Obviously there were good and bad times but overall it was life changing. We were very blessed to come out through a TV show because we were exploited to different countries. It really helped Canada to be our main market.

On the Group Disbanding
...There was a point in time when I wanted to expose that information from my point of view but I’ll just say that it was more of an agree to disagree type situation.

Joining The Pussycat Dolls...I’ve never really spoken on this yet but yes I was definitely chosen to be in the group. To be honest I was actually working on my solo project before that but Robin pretty much figured out everybody that she wanted. She really thought I would be a great asset to the group, so I kind of rolled with it for a while. After we did the Go Daddy commercial for the Super Bowl she (Antin) told me I didn’t have a choice and I couldn’t leave. I had to be in The Pussycat Dolls. She really wanted me in and I didn’t want to let her down.

On PCD Not Working Out...It just wasn’t my yellow brick road you know? I felt like I already went down the path of the girl group thing. I’m very focused and I know what I want to do and being a part of a girl group is definitely not what I want anymore. So I ended up not doing it and I walked away.

On Going Solo...Life was definitely unexpected. I thought my solo career was immediately gonna happen because of the connections and the people I thought had my back. Unfortunately it wasn’t the fairy tale I expected and I had to get a part time job hosting at a restaurant called Fogo De Chao. I didn’t mind hosting because I found the entertainment aspect of it that I love. It worked against me when I realized a lot of my entertainment peers and fans were coming into the restaurant and would come up to me and say, “Hey your that girl from Girlicious! Can I take a picture with you?”

The Solo feeling...*Sigh of relief* It feels awesome! I really feel in control, I feel balanced, I feel uplifted and I feel free. When your apart of a girl group your not 100 percent yourself and now it’s all me and I’m so happy. I feel on top of the world.
