Season 11 American Idol winner Phillip Phillips may be riding high on his gold debut album “The World From the Side of the Moon,” but reports have surfaced that his mother is riding dirty. Sheryl Phillips was arrested for drunk driving and charged with a DUI-Less Safe on February 14 in Albany, Georgia.
Undercover police witnessed her vehicle weaving, then stopped her and issued a sobriety test. The officers couldn’t detect alcohol, but she was taken to the hospital anyway for a blood test because Phillips still couldn’t pass the sobriety test. Results of the blood test will take a few weeks to come out, and Sheryl will stay behind bars until they surface.
“They didn't smell or detect any alcohol on her person…so our guys charged her with less safe since she was under the influence of something," Bill Berry from the Albany Doherty Drug Unit told the media.
Idol winner Phillip is allegedly not on good terms with his parents who are split up. The star is yet to publicly acknowledge his mother’s run-in with the law.
